EYFS DSL

Early Years Foundation Stage

The EYFS states ‘Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met, and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them… Providers must take all necessary steps to keep children safe and well’.

Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (September 2023) states: ‘A practitioner must be designated to take lead responsibility for safeguarding children in every setting.’

This training has been designed to ensure
that both educational and EYFS safeguarding requirements are met. With a focus on the role of the key person, intimate care, information sharing, responding to safeguarding concerns and safe conduct. Delegates are encouraged to explore how to reduce the vulnerability of children in the early years. This training is ideal for DSLs in Nursery and Infant Schools and EYFS Leads in Primary Schools.

The training will include:

  • Creating a Zero-tolerance Culture
  • Preventing and minimising the risk of child on child abuse
  • Clear Explanation of terms such as consent, harassment, violence etc
  • Responding to incidents including reports, risk assessments, referrals and resources
